Intervention Specialist

The Intervention Specialist provides direct intervention for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities in a school and/or community setting.

In accordance with the child or adolescents plan for treatment, the IS role is to provide intervention services directed toward decreasing the child or adolescents maladaptive behaviors and encouraging adaptive behaviors in the classroom or community setting, using reinforcement strategies.

The Intervention Specialist is required to document the progress or regression of goals, coordinate and collaborate with necessary treatment team members to support the child or adolescent, and participate in supervision on a regular basis.

 

Position Experience and Education Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old and
  • Bachelors Degree in human service field, or Bachelors Degree in a non-human service related field with 24 minimum upper division semester credits in human services field
  • Verifiable proof of paid, supervised experience providing services to a child or adolescent with a developmental disability for a minimum of 1,040 hours
  • Complete 40 hour RBT training in ABA (provided by the agency)
  • OR, hold a current certificate in Habilitative Intervention (HI)
  • Have their own reliable transportation, a valid drivers license and car insurance
  • Must provide or obtain CPR/First Aid Certification (provided by the agency)
  • Must provide or obtain  de-escalation certification training, as determined by supervisor

 

Essential Functions
  • Provide direct 1:1 intervention to a child or adolescent with a developmental disability in accordance with the plan for treatment
  • Provide regular written and verbal progress updates on treatment goals
  • Collaborate and coordinate services with treatment team members in various settings, including but not limited to teachers, Ancillary Services (PT, OT, Speech), clinicians, etc.
  • Provide daily documentation on the progression or regression of goals
  • Participate in staff meetings regularly
  • Participate in supervision regularly
  • Effectively communicate with parents and other providers
  • Adhere to State and Federal Guidelines, including Mandated Reporting, HIPAA, and Fraud, Waste and Abuse policies
  • Must maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Must maintain de-escalation certification as determined by supervisor
  • Must complete annual training requirements, as determined by Department Policies and Procedure

Intervention Professional

The Intervention Professional provides direct intervention for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities in a school and/or community setting.

In accordance with the child or adolescents plan for treatment, the IP role is to provide intervention services directed toward decreasing the child or adolescents maladaptive behaviors and encouraging adaptive behaviors in the classroom or community setting, using reinforcement strategies.

The Intervention Professional is required to document the progress or regression of goals, coordinate and collaborate with necessary treatment team members to support the child or adolescent, and participate in supervision on a regular basis.

 

Position Experience and Education Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old and
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or ABA from an accredited institution
  • Have 1,200 hours relevant hours of experience in completing and implementing comprehensive behavioral therapies for individuals with functional or behavioral needs.
  • Verifiable proof of paid, supervised experience providing services to a child or adolescent with a developmental disability for a minimum of 1,040 hours
  • Complete 40 hour RBT training in ABA (provided by the agency)

Intervention Technician

The Intervention Technician provides direct intervention for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. In accordance with the child or adolescent’s plan for treatment, the Intervention Technician role is to provide intervention services directed toward decreasing the child or adolescent maladaptive behaviors and encouraging adaptive behaviors in the classroom or community]setting, using reinforcement strategies.

The Intervention Technician is required to document the progress or regression of goals, coordinate and collaborate with necessary treatment team members to support the child or adolescent, and participate in supervision on a regular basis. This position is a provisional position for 18 months. During that 18 months, staff must acquire 1,040 hours of direct, supervised, experience with an individual (0-21 years of age) with a developmental disability or demonstrated functional need.

 

Position Experience and Education Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service related field 
    • Or within 24 credits of completing a BA and actively enrolled and in pursuit of those final credits
  • Have their own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and car insurance
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, and ongoing random screenings
  • Must provide or obtain CPR/First Aid Certification (provided by the agency)
  • Must provide or obtain de-escalation certification training, as determined by supervisor
  • Must be able to pass State and Federal Background Check through the Department of Health and Welfare

  • Effectively communicate with teachers and other providers, and defer communication with families to appropriate school staff, if providing services in the school setting

Community Based Supports – Paraprofessional

The Community Based Supports Technician provides community based support services to children and adolescents with disabilities in one on one and/or group settings according to the individual’s plan of services, under the guidance of a Clinical Supervisor and/or Community Supports Specialist.

The Community Based Supports Technician supports participants in community activities such as 4-H, team sports, boy/girl scouts, clubs, volunteering and/or other activities as determined. The Community Based Supports Technician helps children and adolescents develop friendships and relationships with others while promoting integration into the community.

 

Position Experience and Education Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must complete competency coursework offered by the Department of Health and Welfare to demonstrate competencies related to the requirements to provide Community Based Supports
  • One (1) year experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and interdependently
  • Ability to effectively manage time
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in many different environments
  • Ability to handle flexible scheduling
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Maintains current drivers license and good driving record
  • Maintains current liability insurance on vehicle
  • Observes safe driving standards in accordance with CPI Safety Policy
  • Completes criminal background check through Health & Welfare
  • Maintains current first aid/CPR certification
